We study the Bible plus the latest events of concern to the Jewish people. Feel free to ‘drop in’ on any Tuesday--you’re always welcome!

Dr. Hoffman is the acclaimed translator and author of And God Said: How Translations Conceal the Bible’s Original Meaning.  "Dr. Hoffman sheds light on the original intention of the text and the newly developed means that readers can use to get closer to it. In And God Said, his fresh approach has united the topics of religion, language and linguistics to offer the first modern understanding of the Bible since it was written."  Light lunch to follow.

JAVA & JUDAISM: JEWISH BIOGRAPHY

The Java and Judaism series is held in the Temple building this year. Please join us for our final enjoyable and informative sessions of Jewish biography. We have been studying the biographies of seminal Jewish twentieth century thinkers. Each represents a different major movement: Orthodox, Conservative, Reconstructionist and Reform. The Reform segment is taught by our very own Rabbi Emeritus, Rabbi Charles Kroloff. Join us for coffee and so much more. 

LOOKING TO LEARN MORE HEBREW?
Thursdays, begins March 4, 7:45 - 8:45pm
Instructor:  Marlene Maderer
If you are able to read Hebrew on a beginners level and would like to improve your reading skills as well as study prayers in the Reform prayer book, join a small group with the goal of more comfortably participating in Shabbat services and Shiva Minyan services. If we have enough students, we plan to begin the 10-week course. If you have any questions  or are interested in taking the class, contact Marlene Maderer. The cost for Temple members is $95.

FIRST REICH, SECOND REICH, THIRD REICH 
Sunday Brunch, April 18, 11:00am   (suggested donation $5)
Guest Speaker: Professor Dennis Klein 
Join us for a stimulating and informative morning with the head of the Jewish Studies program at Kean University.  Professor Klein will give us an analysis of the development of the German psyche, starting with the 1,000 year First Reich, which began with Charlemagne in the 9th century.  We will continue with the 50 year Second Reich of Kaiser Wilhelm in the 19th century, and finish with the 12 year Third Reich.  Learn how each Reich contributed to the myth of German superiority and heroism plus the myth of Jewish villainy and "otherness."This Brunch is co-sponsored by Men's Club

In this enlightening seminar, you will learn:
 - how healthy living is a spiritual journey
 - what the Jewish laws tell us about food selection and preparation
 - an approach to food that integrates mindfulness and discipline
 
Elizabeth Miller has a robust educational and professional background in health and fitness, including a masters degree from Columbia's School of Public Health.  For over a decade she designed and delivered health promotion programs at hospitals in NY City.  Currently she conducts wellness seminars at the Rahway Health and Wellness seminars on a wide range of topics including fueling sports performance, the psychology of weight loss, and preparing college bound kids for healthy eating. She also teaches fitness classes at the JCC. In her private practice, she assists individuals and families find a healthier way of living through improving their approach to nutrition and fitness. Elizabeth is a member of Temple Emanu-El
