Mitzvah Project Checklist

Decide what you want to do for your Mitzvah Project.   Take a look at the Mitzvah Project Binder in the Religious School Office, the list of suggested projects, www.ziv.org or www.areyvut.org for suggested ideas... or design your own.

If you are creating your own project please contact Rabbi Doberne-Schor to clear it.

Fill out your Mitzvah Project Proposal Form and turn it in to the Religious School office SIX MONTHS before your bar/bat mitzvah date. Remember, your proposal is supposed to be very specific, so you may have to do some research before filling it out!

Do your Mitzvah Project!  Remember, take pictures, keep a journal, or do anything else you need to do to later tell others about what you did.

Prepare any written or visual materials that you need to turn in to tell others about your project.

Fill out the Mitzvah Project Report Form, including the “What’s the Mitzvah in My Mitzvah Project” worksheet from our website, and turn it into the Religious School office no later than exactly ONE MONTH before your big day.  This form will be put in a binder as a reference for other students.  If you wish, you may include other information (on standard sized paper) along with your form to put in the binder.

When you meet with one of the rabbis to prepare your bar or bat mitzvah d’var Torah (speech on the Torah portion), be sure to mention your Mitzvah Project and what you learned from it!
