Pride Shabbat

Friday, June 6. Pre-Neg at 5 PM and Services begin at 6 PM

We will be celebrating Pride Shabbat with our Guest Cantor and noted composer, Cantor Jonathan Comisar. Cantor Comisar was a cantorial intern at Temple Emanu-El when he was in cantorial school.

Join our clergy at the Westfield Pride Flag Raising! The Pride flag will be raised at Town Hall at 5:30, which will be followed by a walk to the rainbow crosswalks. All are welcome!

We are thrilled to welcome Sara Glass, PhD, LCSW, author of the acclaimed memoir Kissing Girls on Shabbat, for an intimate conversation about her journey from a Hasidic upbringing to embracing her queer identity. In this powerful and unflinching narrative, Glass shares her struggle to reconcile faith, family, and selfhood, offering a rare glimpse into the challenges of leaving an ultra-Orthodox community and the courage it takes to live authentically.

Please register below to get your FREE LGBTQ+ Pride Shabbat kit! This kit has everything you’ll need to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Shabbat in your own home on any Friday in June. The kit includes a challah cover, grape juice, a recipe to make rainbow challah, Shabbat candles, and the traditional Friday night Shabbat blessings.
