Artist in Residence Dan Nichols
Friday, March 12
Saturday, March 13
Sunday, March 14
Music is such a vibrant and integral part of our Temple community, and we are especially excited that Dan Nichols will be immersed in every facet of our robust musical program throughout his visit!
On Friday, March 13, Dan will begin his day with our youngest learners, leading our ELC Shabbat at 9:30 AM, before joining our TEWnies and Adult Choir to lead Friday night Shabbat services. On Saturday, March 14, he will join us for Simchat Shabbat and present a special concert featuring both Jewish and secular music. On Sunday, March 15, he will spend time with our Religious School students.
Throughout the weekend, Dan will also work directly with our Adult Choir, Adult Band, TEWnies, and Teen Band, offering our musicians of all ages the opportunity to learn from him through coaching, rehearsals, and musical collaboration. This weekend is not just about experiencing Dan's music, but about bringing his creativity, energy, and expertise into the musical life of our congregation!
ABOUT DAN NICHOLS
Dan is a product of the URJ Jewish camping movement. He has toured Jewish summer camps across North America for the last 25 years. A classically trained singer, Dan received his Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance at the University of North Carolina. In 1995, realizing the potential of music to make powerful connections with Jewish youth, Dan established the Jewish rock band Eighteen. Since that time, Dan and Eighteen have released 13 albums. Songs like, L’takein, B’tzelem Elohim, Kehillah Kedoshah, Chazak, Sweet As Honey, and Asher Yatzar have become Jewish communal anthems throughout North America.

May I Suggest: A Havdalah Concert
Saturday, March 14 at 5:00 PM
Who says Jewish music has to sound a certain way? Dan Nichols has spent more than 25 years breaking down the boundaries between Jewish music and the sounds of contemporary rock and folk. His songs are rooted in Jewish tradition, but they speak to something universal: love, belonging, justice, hope, and the beautifully complicated experience of being human.
Join us as we begin with Havdalah and move into an evening where Jewish music meets the songs we know and love beyond the synagogue. With Dan's signature blend of thoughtful lyrics, irresistible melodies, and rock-and-roll energy, this is a concert that will have you singing along one moment and thinking deeply the next.
Babysitting for potty trained children by our teens will be provided. Advanced registration is required.
