Taste of the Oral Torah

10/6, 10/21, 11/3 11/17, 12/1, 12/15 at 7:30 PM

The Oral Torah, and its myriad extensions and interpretations, guided Jewish life for millennia.  This huge, diverse and ever-growing corpus was the place where Jews, across continents and generations, shared their views and feelings about being Jewish, about God, about the Jewish people, its history and its destiny, and about what all that meant in practice, in their "Here and now". In each meeting of this study group we will get a taste of this hidden treasure, by following one idea or theme in various sources.

Knowledge of Hebrew and Aramaic is not required. We will usually use the translations available in Sefaria (https://www.sefaria.org/). The sources will be displayed on a big screen, but feel free to bring your own laptop or tablet to have the freedom to navigate the sources by yourself.

We will meet at the Temple every other Tuesday, 7:30-9:00 PM. Online participation via Zoom is available, but in-person participation is encouraged as it is usually more effective.
