Temple Emanu-El Funds

The Temple is grateful for the generous philanthropic support of our members and friends who make contributions to honor or memorialize a loved one or commemorate life cycle events.

Your donation will have a great impact on the Temple’s ability to provide financial support for both ongoing programs and new initiatives.  The Temple has 8 broad-based themed funds and special named and designated funds. Each broad-based fund addresses a thematic approach to providing financial support for Temple programs and operations. There is no minimum to make a contribution to any of these Temple Funds; and all donations are gratefully accepted and acknowledged. New named and designated funds are welcome and require a minimum initial contribution of $25,000.

Religious Life and Observance Funds

Religious Life and Observance Fund provides support for Shabbat, holiday, and other Jewish ritual programs as well as religious life materials such as prayer books.

Jewish Education Fund provides support for Jewish education programs for children and adults as well as creative and innovative Jewish education programs.

  • Fritz and Edith Lehr Library Fund for family education and the Lehr Library collection.

    Early Learning Center Fund provides enhancements to the ELC including equipment, materials, and furnishings. Also used for financial assistance to families in need.

    Religious School Fund enhances the quality of Jewish education through special programs, materials and equipment.

     Rabbi Charles A. Kroloff Fund for Jewish Learning enhances Jewish

    education in all areas of Temple and community life.

    Thomas Glasser Fund for Jewish education. 

    The Holly E. Wetscher Ma’ayan Fund provides funds for religious education to children with special needs.

    Charles Alpert Memorial Fund to encourage Jewish studies and community service for students in the Confirmation Class. 

    Emily Wolin Memorial Fund For special needs with particular emphasis on Jewish youth. 

    Solomon J. Buchsbaum Fund to be used for Jewish education.

    Glasser Foundation for Autistic Children

    Donald and Elaine Weill Family Fund supports Israel and Holocaust education in the Religious School. 

    Nanci Pompan Fund for Women’s Empowerment underwrites programs empowering young Jewish women to feel strong, but also to feel stronger together. This fund will assist young Jewish women to attend programs and or Jewish trips, Rosh Chodesh groups, Jewish teen programs, participation in marches where they need assistance in traveling. The fund will ensure that young Jewish women can develop camaraderie with other women.

Scholarship Support Funds

Scholarship Fund provides scholarship support and assistance for a wide range of Temple programs enabling participation by children and adults for Jewish education, Jewish camp, Israel trips, and other Jewish experiences.

  • The Jeff and Eleanor Peris Camp Scholarship Fund supports Jewish Summer camp experience for Temple Emanu-El youth in need of financial assistance.

    Jyl Skolnick Scholarship Fund provides scholarship assistance for children to attend Camp Harlam.

Facilities and Grounds Funds

Facilities and Grounds Fund provides support for the maintenance, upkeep and improvement of Temple facilities and grounds.

  • Koppel Family Fund for Technology provides support for a wide range of technological advancements, improvements and general updates that will be available to all areas of Temple Emanu-El’s operations.

    The Arlene Gardner/Ed Israelow Landscaping Fund supports the purchase and planting of trees, plants, flowers and shrubs to enhance and beautify the Temple grounds.

    Security Fund is used to protect and preserve Temple Emanu-El, its congregants and its properties.

    Temple Fund is used where needed in the Temple.

Israel Awareness & Connections Funds

Israel Awareness and Connections Fund provides support for Israel awareness programs and activities as well as connections to World Jewry and Jewish communities around the world.

Music Funds

Music Fund provides support for music programming at the Temple.

  • The Cantor Martha Novick Endowment Fund honors Cantor Novick’s legacy and wishes through the following: incorporating music into worship, programming, education and all areas of the Temple; Sustaining the confirmation program including, but not limited to, an annual social action trip.

    The Rose and Fred Music Fund provides support for the Annual Music Shabbat and other special music events at Temple Emanu-El.

Seniors Programming Funds

Seniors Programming Fund provides support for programming and activities benefitting the Temple’s senior adult community.

  • Kabakow Fund assists senior citizens educationally and culturally.

Tikkun Olam Funds

Tikkun Olam Fund provides support for Temple programs of community service, social justice and social action.

  • The Adam Bengal Memorial Family Promise Fund is for emergency situations of homeless or nearly-homeless people; including guests in our homeless program.

    Harris & Sally Gilbert Fund for Social Justice supports projects and programs on behalf of Tikkun Olam. 

    Mandy Reichman Fund is for the purpose of providing food for the hungry in our greater community.

    Caring Community Fund helps congregants by providing meals for those facing illness and loss, rides to appointments, friendly visits to homebound members, and assistance during difficult times of transition. 

    Bagged With Love supports families in need across Union County.

    Fun Club/Refugee Assistance partners with local refugee families in Union County to help them build a lasting foundation for success by promoting social, economic, and educational well-being.

Pre-Neg Reception - Congregants and friends are encouraged to consider sponsoring a Pre-Neg reception before our weekly Friday Night Shabbat Service. Pre-Neg sponsorships are $360 and are a beautiful way to celebrate a family Simcha or memorialize a loved one. Sponsors will be gratefully acknowledged and recognized in the Temple e-newsletter the week of their Pre-Neg sponsorship.
